MBTA Symphony Station Improvements Project

Boston, MA
+

The purpose of the Symphony Station Improvements Project is to make the Green Line station accessible to all riders by adding new elevators, raising platforms, and upgrading facilities to be compliant with modern accessibility standards. The project also aims to modernize the station with improved lighting, safety features, and wayfinding, while ensuring it can accommodate newer, longer trains.

Brennan has provided and continues to provide essential survey support, including:

Boundary Determination
Due to the extensive utility relocation required for this project, a Right of Way needed to be established before certain structures could be moved. Brennan performed a full boundary determination to support this effort.

Pre-Construction Documentation
Brennan documented all surrounding structures, including intersections, exterior and interior building conditions, the Route 9 underpass tunnel, and approaching roadways near the construction site. Documentation methods included photography, laser scanning, mobile LiDAR, and video. All video files were delivered in MP4 format and uploaded to a private YouTube platform for ease of access and transfer. A detailed report of findings was also submitted in PDF format.

Construction Layout
Brennan established site control and transferred it into the MBTA train tunnels to support upcoming construction. Layout activities are just beginning and will continue over the next several years.
