Brennan Consulting performed Land Surveying and Laser Scanning as part of the rehabilitation of five water tanks in the Greater Boston area for the MWRA. Brennan Consulting captured data of both the interior and exterior of the five water towers utilizing Leica’s RTC360 laser scanner. This technology provided full-color panoramic imagery overlaid on a high-accuracy point-cloud using Leica TruView and a high-resolution colorized point cloud. A drone was utilized to Map the roofs of the water tanks, and we combined the UAV roof data with the Point Cloud data from the laser scanner. We then processed the Lidar and imagery data to generate a registered colorized point cloud. Site features were located and all topographic features illustrated. The survey was performed at 1” = 20’ scale horizontal accuracy and 1 -foot contour intervals. Elevations were based on NAVD ‘88, and coordinates on Massachusetts State Plane, Mainland Zone (NAD ’83).
